As its name suggests, English Bay is an open bay neighbourhood located northwest of the Burrard Peninsula in British Columbia, Canada. It encompasses part of the coast of Stanley Park, the West End, Kitsilano, West Point Grey and the University Endowment Lands, with False Creek laying at its eastern end.
English Bay comes alive when the weather is sunny and warm, and locals gather on the beaches to enjoy scuba diving, kayaking, boating, and other outdoor activities. The neighbourhood is home to several sandy beaches, including English Bay, Vancouver’s most popular beach, Sandy Beach, Third Beach, and Sunset Beach, so there is plenty of space to relax, eat, drink, and enjoy warm Vancouver days.
Locals regularly enjoy the year-round activities taking place in English Bay. The Celebration of Light fireworks festival takes place on three nights during July and August when there is a spectacular light show. Another event is the well-known Polar Bear Swim event, when Vancouverites welcome the new year by taking a dip into the freezing ocean.
Because of the proximity to multiple beaches, English Bay is primarily occupied by hotels and Airbnb spots that tourists rent. There is a small number of single-family homes for sale in the area with a price tag that typically moves in the $2 to $4 million for a three-bedroom, three-bathroom house.
